I happened to wake up this morning around quarter after six.
There were no vehicles on the roads by my building and all I could hear was the singing of the birds—song sparrows, chestnut-backed chickadees, downy woodpecker and a flicker…I’m sure more, but those I picked out.
I breathed deeply and enjoyed the smell of the morning – a spring morning.
I felt serenity in that moment.
Oṃ śānti śānti śānti.
