Please allow me to introduce you to Atticus.  Atticus is a “guard bear” and he was made for me and given to me by a co-worker back when I was first diagnosed.I have to tell you that Atticus has been part of my bed since he arrived. So yes, I do indeed sleep with a stuffed animal.

At first Vince wasn’t so sure about his inclusion in the bed. Imagine opening your eyes and finding yourself nose-to-nose with Atticus.

The other day, after I had changed the bed, Vince came in and noticed Atticus on the floor. He immediately picked up the bear and put him on the bed.

There are many nights that I reach out and hold onto him, if only briefly until I fall back asleep again.

I think his presence has helped get me through a few rough nights.
