I saw the surgeon, who is a gynelocological oncologist with the Cancer Clinic, today. After review of my file and taking my medical history relating to my menstrual cycle, doing a PAP (it’s been 17 months since my last) and a general physical, she looks at me and says, “Gayle, we’re not doing an oophorectomy, we’re doing a hysterectomy.”

I’ll have 4 days in the hospital and 8 weeks of recovery. Surgery is on March 5th.
That’s all I have to say on this issue at this point in time. Okay, I’ll say this, I’d rather battle my cancer proactively than reactively. If this is what I have to do, then I’ll do it.
