If you haven’t noticed, the biggest thing in activewear is Lululemon….but I have a better alternative: Ellswear.

Ellswear will do plus sizes, which is a bonus, but this time the owner (Wendy) took customer service to a new level for me.

My wings have made it uncomfortable for me to be without some sort of support. The problem is, when you don’t have a chest (and refuse to do prosthetics), how do you find support? I’ve been using sports bras (the non-cup ones), but they too have had their challenges. Without breasts to push the material out, it bunches up at the front. And without breasts to push the material out, the armholes cut into my underarms, creating numbness at the left shoulder. I took a chance when I went in to Ellswear to get a couple pair of “active pants” for hiking. I asked if there was anything they could do for me. It took us two tries (the first is great, the second is better) as Wendy custom-cut and sewed (I should add that it was from an existing pattern) two sports bras for just me.

I just about cried this past week when I didn’t have any pain or discomfort at all. And I teared up in giving her my thanks (and some chocolates). I made her cry too. She told me I was inspirational.

You know, it’s all fine to buy what’s the rage, but it’s more special to buy local and get the service.

http://ellswear.com/~ the website needs some updating, but you’ll get an idea of what they offer.
