Happy (almost) New Year everyone!
Vince and I went to Moncton to visit Dad, Art and Corrine for Christmas. We arrived on Christmas eve and left on Friday (28th). There were two not-so-good things about the trip—
- Dad was admitted to the hospital and was still in at Christmas (he didn’t get out until about two hours before we left). Since Dad moved to Moncton, a lot has become more clear about his health. His ulcerative colitis is quite inflamed and there’s little option left than a complete colon removal and, very likely, colostomy bag. It’s about quality of life. We expect the surgery to take place early in the new year; And
- Vince came down with the flu. Spent all of Christmas day sleeping and not eating. Was recovered enough by the time we left.
In terms of Moncton, there’s not a lot I can say about a place in winter. Dad claims it is beautiful country. One of Art’s friends asked me what I thought of Moncton and only one word popped out of my mouth: FLAT. It’s true! Very little variance in terrain. How spoiled Victoria/British Columbia has made me.
I very much like Dad’s little suite in the basement. Vince and I had full run of it while Dad was in the hospital.
Art and Corrine showed us great hospitality. I am so glad I went and very glad that Vince could go with me.
And this, my friends, is the last post of 2012.
May 2013 bring health, happiness and good fortune to us all.
