oblivious

There are days when I am completely and utterly oblivious to everything around me—and no, all you smarty pants, this is not my USUAL state. Geesh.

I’m standing all by myself at the bus stop this morning. Mostly I’m watching the juncos in the nearby trees. I notice a man approaching and he’s got this look on his face of, oh I don’t know, interest and he’s pointing at me. I look down at my jacket and pants, but see nothing. I look back at him (still about 25 ft away) and he’s now wagging that pointing finger – pointing more towards the ground. So I expand my search and look down beside me and lo and behold, not a foot away from me is a young raccoon sitting there and looking up at me. The second I notice him, however, he scuttles off and around the corner.
