How many ways does your name get misspelled by service staff at coffee shops or other places where you name is called out to pick up your order?
I get these ones; it’s not like my spelling is the most commonly used one—
And I’ve reached an age where it’s just not important that they get it right.
These had me laughing—
- Gill (as in fish gill, not Jill)
If you say, in one breath, “Gayle Moore”, then ya, I get it. But wouldn’t you question me?
These ones just annoy—
“K” doesn’t even sound like a soft or hard ‘g’, so WTF?
I can understand a ‘d’ sound over a ‘g’ – but the spelling of Deyle? That’s just WEIRD.
My next problem comes not from asking me how to spell it so that it’s correct, but with the next person who pronounces it Gay Lee – this happens 95% of the time.
So, if you are with me and hear “Grace” called out, you know why.
